BLING! a designer’s blog presents my musings on beautiful, interesting and inspiring people, places, events and objects-of-desire related to the world of design and to the ‘extraordinary bling’ created by atelier bento. From the beginning, I was the kid in the back seat of the station wagon who noticed every fence post, every turn, every building and every cloud that looked like a dragon, or a dog, or a sea of islands. I am still that kid. For me, it’s all about beauty, style & place.  I love beautiful things; the essence of a place whether grand or vernacular; that quiet moment of reflection that affords inspiration.

I grew up in Boulder, Colorado nurtured by scientists, professors, artists, entrepreneurs, hippies, a few rock stars, and our very cool mothers and fathers who influenced everything, especially my sense of style. We sewed our own clothes, pitched our own tents, built our own forts and were bundled off at o-dark-thirty every winter Saturday for skiing (and yes, I can still ski just about anything).  I am particularly fond of the decorative arts, architecture, interiors and gardens, as well as in love with the world of jewels.
